Chad was convicted of domestic battery back in 2000 for slapping his then girlfriend after accusing her of cheating on him [click here if you missed that].
A Fort Lauderdale attorney tells Gossip Extra because of that prior conviction the Broward County State Attorney could bump Chad's current misdemeanor charge up to a felony and mandatory prison.
