Real Lies the Angela Stanton Book Review

Angela Stanton is mad. I'mma tell you why she's mad. Angela Stanton is mad because Atlanta attorney Phaedra Parks has been able to do something Angela cannot: Move on...

Let me refresh your memory: Angela Stanton is the woman who claims Real Housewives of Atlanta's Phaedra Parks was a criminal mastermind who guided her into a life of crime and then walked away when Angela got caught [click here if you missed that].

Angela promised to expose Phaedra's criminal empire in her new book 'Lies of a Real Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil but the only thing she exposed was her own bitterness at being left behind.

In the beginning of the book Angela describes her family as a dysfunctional one, rife with child molestation, murder and cons gone wrong.

Angela talks about the first time she was arrested at age twelve for shoplifting and brags that breaking the law gave her a thrill.

By the time Angela met Phaedra Parks she had already been arrested over 30 times.

The first scam Angela connects to Phaedra is a check writing scam where Angie was given business checks that she used to buy electronics all over town. Only Phaedra isn't the mastermind of the scam. Angela says Phaedra introduced her to Atlanta party impresario Alex Gidewon and that he was the one with the checks.

Next Angela connects Phaedra to an insurance check scam. That's when Phaedra introduced Angie to Apollo. The insurance scam was Apollo's thing not Phaedra's and Angela readily admits that Phaedra and Apollo were not a couple at that time. Far from it.

Then came the car scam. That's when Phaedra introduced Angie to Everette. Again, Phaedra was the middle man according to Angie not the mastermind.

I won't spoil the plot twists for those of you who want to read the book, but after Angela was released from jail in 2006, for scamming on cars with Everett, Phaedra distanced herself from Angela and stopped taking her calls.

The common theme in Angela's book is how Phaedra had moved on from her former life.

Angela admits that her anger at seeing Everette and Apollo on Real Housewives of Atlanta with Phaedra was the impetus that drove her to write this book.

Ironically Angela insists she just wants the chance to move forward, while being angry at Phaedra for doing the same.

All that aside, the book is an interesting read if you're into ghetto literature just don't read it expecting to get the drop on Phaedra Parks because a criminal attorney who introduces criminals to each other is not exactly an expose.
