Back in March video surfaced showing members of Patti LaBelle's entourage in a physical confrontation with a West Point cadet at Bush Intercontinental airport [click here if you missed that]. At the time Patti's people accused the cadet of getting too close and drunkenly starting a fight. The police were called, they took pictures with Patti, the guy was slandered in the police report and that was that. So how come Patti's hairdresser and bodyguard were just charged with assault...?
Apparently after closer inspection of the video, and an internal investigation against the officers who responded to the call, it appears Patti's goons may have been the aggressors after all.
From ABC 13
In the video, you see West Point cadet Richard King in yellow on the phone near LaBelle's limo outside Terminal C. King exchanges words with her son who is also her driver. Her son bumps King. The bodyguard then hits him and both he and LaBelle's hairdresser, 63-year-old Norma Harris, push him into a concrete pillar, causing him to fall to the ground with a head injury.
Patti LaBelle's hairdresser, Norma Harris and bodyguard, Efrem Holmes have both been charged with assault. The cadet, who was suspended because of the incident, has filed a civil suit against Patti LaBelle and the police department.
